Having dreams that you can't achieve is one thing. Having dreams stopped short by a battle with obsessive-compulsive disorder, debilitating depression, and Asperger's Syndrome is an entirely different animal. Philadelphia native Bud Clayman, graduate of Akiba Hebrew Academy and Temple University, seemed destined for filmmaking. After college, he headed for Hollywood to get his big break. Instead, he faced a breakdown. In OC87, which the New York Times calls a "moving, penetrating documentary," Bud meets with celebrities who share his condition, revisits his old stomping grounds, and rekindles relationships lost during an eight-year stint in a therapeutic community. By fulfilling his lifelong desire to direct a film, the unforgettable Bud Clayman forces us to confront important issues head-on, while painting a raw and optimistic portrait of illness management.
